One of my biggest mistakes in 2016 was to sign up for one
quilt class too many. I attend two block-of-the-month classes every year. I love
the tiny quilts from Kim Diehl's Simple Whatnots Club, and I attend Clothesline
Club every month. (Darlene Zimmerman quit supporting these years ago, but we
like hanging out together too much to notice.) All of these are morning
classes. But last year I signed up for a class to make Jen Kingwell’s My Small
World quilt. I found the happy Mary Blair colors and interesting shapes very
appealing. I bought the kit and book, but the classes took place Saturday
afternoons. I never made it to a single one. I tried wading through the pattern
on my own and failed. Instead, I’ll use the fabric from the kit to make Moda’s
Be My Neighbor quilt. The pattern is free online and quite easy to read. You’re
looking at block number one.
