In the TV series Dirty Jobs, Mike Rowe played apprentice to
people with unusually disgusting or dangerous jobs. It was both entertaining and
educational; well worth watching. Shortly after the show was cancelled, Mike
received a letter that began, “I’ve
spent this last year trying to find the right career and I still can’t
figure out what to do.” Mike replied, “Stop looking for the right career, and
start looking for a job. Any job. Forget about what you like. Focus on what’s
available. Get yourself hired. Show up early. Stay late. Volunteer for the scut
work. Become indispensable. You can always quit later and be no worse off than
you are today. Don’t waste another year looking for a career that doesn’t
exist. Most of all stop worrying about your happiness. Happiness doesn’t come
from a job. It comes from knowing what you truly value and behaving in a way
that’s consistent with those beliefs.”
Lovely block. Do you have a link to the quilt pattern? Or could you possibly provide the cutting dimensions for the block? I googled it but didn't find your particular block.
ReplyDeleteThis is a 5" five-patch block, so I cut the black center 1.5" square. The four cream rectangles were cut 1.5x2.5. The four brown pieces were cut 2.5" square. Eight 1.5" squares of cream formed the triangles using the "covered corners" method. If you'd rather make a 10" block, the dark squares would be 4.5", the center 2.5" and the rectangles would be 4.5x2.5". Or you could make a 12" block using Marti Michell's M set of templates.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much!
