I don’t do my best
work when I’m against a deadline. But somehow it seems a looming deadline’s the
only thing that motivates me. Beauty and the Beast opened at Murray Amphitheater
last night. I’ve had the music for months, but I didn’t knuckle down and work –
really work – on the piano score until about a week ago. The Quilt Etc. block-of-the-month
top is due the first Saturday morning in September. I only finished it in time
this year because my niece’s wedding pushed that target date to the middle of
May. Stake conference is less than four weeks away; not enough time to learn
the complicated hymns I’ve been assigned. And there are only thirty-four days
left before I have to turn in the state fair challenge quilt that’s still in
pieces on my design wall. Eek! I really hate spending my days in a mild state
of panic. But it seems to be the only state I know.
