A Budding Romance

Pearl S. Buck, author of The Good Earth, once said, “To know how to do something well is to enjoy it.” The more I see of life, the more I am convinced she was right about that. If you enjoy doing something, such as playing a sport or a musical instrument, it is only natural that you will find more opportunities to do it again and again. The more practice you get at anything you do, the more you will excel. Even mundane tasks such as cooking, cleaning or doing the laundry for your family can bring their own joy. You may feel required to do them at first, but as you persist in the doing, you find there is pleasure in doing them well. There is a satisfaction that comes with bringing order to disorder, and it is made even sweeter when someone notices and comments on the effort you have made.
