Independence Revisited

When I make a quilt block I usually outline it on graph paper first. Then I take colored pencils and flesh it out. I cut all the fabric pieces, usually using Marti Michell Perfect Patchwork Templates and a rotary cutter. Then I arrange all the pieces on a board beside the sewing machine. I step back and take a good look before beginning to sew, to make sure I haven’t missed something important. This is usually the point where the cat decides to “help.” I don’t see what should be so enjoyable about lolling on the tiny cloth triangles and squares, but she clearly enjoys it. I shoo her off and rearrange the displaced pieces. Usually everything turns out fine, but now and then… Maybe you noticed what was wrong with last Friday’s block. I didn’t until well after it was posted. So here’s the block again, the way it was meant to look.
