State of Georgia

It’s not the sort of thing I’d ever imagined would happen here: that two respected and revered members of the community - men who were the state’s top law enforcement officers - would themselves be handcuffed and taken to jail. I can picture this sort of thing going on far, far from Utah, where one might expect to find corruption and greed growing like kudzu. I must remind myself that they haven’t been tried (except by the media) and that they’re innocent until proven guilty. At this point, it’s hard to imagine more than two possible outcomes: A, they really did solicit and accept bribes, tamper with witnesses and evidence, and attempt to obstruct justice; or B, they’re unbelievably naïve and gullible patsies. In the long run, except to their families and friends, I suppose it doesn’t really matter. Either way former Attorneys General Mark Shurtleff and John Swallow have given the state of Utah an enormous black eye.
