Four Pine Trees (Plus Two)

Domingo and Anna Maria Chavez met at a Blue Moon dance in south Texas in 1958. They were married in 1961 and shortly afterward moved to Idaho. The couple enjoyed traveling together. Together they worked on their farm and raised their eight children. In 2006 Anna Maria was diagnosed with dementia; Domingo’s diagnosis came soon after. Their oldest son Freddie took them in and cared for them. He made sure their beds were pushed close together so Domingo and Anna Maria could hold hands. September 17 of this year, Anna Maria passed away at the age of 74. Domingo, age 76, followed her a few hours later. According to their joint obituary in the Idaho Press-Tribune, they are survived by their eight children, thirty grandchildren and thirty-two great-grandchildren.
