Four Sawtooth Stars

It’s been happening at least once a day – sometimes two or three times a day – and it’s been going on for weeks. The phone rings, and I check the caller ID. Sometimes it’s a local number, sometimes from a nearby state. I pick up, and someone who barely speaks English tells me my own address and asks if I’m the home owner. They ask who our power company is, and they ask how much we pay. They don’t seem bothered that I never answer. They tell me they want to send, free of obligation, information about solar power. When I say I live in an HOA that won’t allow solar panels, it doesn’t seem to fit their script. Nor do they know what to do with me when I ask them to stop calling. I’m tempted to hand the phone to my three-year-old grandson the next time they call. I’m just afraid he’ll place an order.
