New Spruce

 


Chocolate Snickerdoodles

 

1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened

 1 cup sugar

 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed

 2 large eggs

 1 teaspoon vanilla

 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour

 1/2 cup cocoa powder

 1 1/2 teaspoon cream of tartar

 1 teaspoon baking soda

 1/2 teaspoon baking powder

 1/2 teaspoon salt

1/4 cup sugar

1 tablespoon cinnamon

 

Preheat oven to 350F. Cream together butter and sugars. Add eggs and vanilla. In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, cream of tartar, baking soda, baking powder, and salt. Add dry ingredients to butter mixture. Mix until just incorporated. Scoop dough and round into balls (about 2 tablespoons each). Mix together sugar and cinnamon in small bowl. Roll dough balls in cinnamon-sugar and place on cookie sheet at least 2” apart. Bake 9 to 11 minutes, or until edges are. Makes about 2 dozen cookies.
