I’ve made only two laser-cut blocks, but I can tell I’m not
going to be a big fan. I’d assumed they’d go together faster since I wouldn’t waste
any time cutting. Wrong! I actually spent more time trying to stitch together
this block and the one I posted Saturday than I normally do cutting and sewing
similar blocks this size. There is simply no room for error. If you mess up,
even by a hair’s breadth, you’re stuck. I can’t tell you how many times I
stitched a seam, ripped it out and stitched it again. In the end, I was afraid
if I tore the block apart one more time I’d have nothing but a lump of
unraveled threads. And so I’m settling for points that almost land where they
belong, corners that don’t quite meet, and blocks that are nearly square. Worse,
the instructions don’t include pressing directions; something that really would
have come in handy.
