Little Red Star

This will make more than a few people angry but it must be said. Suicide isn’t something that happens to you; it’s a choice. It’s a tragedy for everyone involved, but it isn’t like heart disease or breast cancer or kidney failure. It’s something you choose, and it’s a selfish choice. It’s a choice you can only make when you’re so focused on your own pain and sorrow that you don’t see the pain and sorrow you’re about to inflict upon everyone around you: your family and friends and even the pour soul unlucky enough to find your body. It’s a permanent solution to a temporary problem, because while you live, all problems are temporary. It’s a selfish choice to take the greatest gift you’ve been given and throw it away. Life is a gift, and like all gifts it is meant to bring us joy when we use it for the benefit of others.
