Pennsylvania

Today’s block is driving me nuts. It’s a really simple block pattern, but I chose for the background a print that isn’t square with itself. The little black spots aren’t lined up with the weave of the cloth. So when I cut the rectangles out following the threads of the fabric, the block ended up LOOKING wrong. If I had more of that print, I could have recut the background pieces so they squared up with the print. But then the block itself might not come out square. It’s a moot issue, as I was just using up little leftover bits to make this block in the first place. I haven't time either; I'm trying to finish my state fair quilt before the deadline. Nothing in my sewing room really goes to waste; not even this sad block. I’ll probably stuff it in my rag bag, and at some later date it will get hacked up along with a few other misfit blocks to make a new crazy quilt.
