City of Hartford

I’m struggling with a bit of heartburn lately; not enough to complain to my doctor, but sufficient to compel me to find ways to avoid it in the future. After some research, I’m amazed I haven’t been troubled with it before this. Apparently I do almost everything wrong. I enjoy fresh tomatoes, pasta with marinara, V8 juice, and tomato/basil soup. But tomatoes don’t love me back. Neither do the grapefruits, oranges, and tangerines I adore. I like to chew sugar-free mint gum between meals and I enjoy a cup of mint tea or hot chocolate in the evening. Mint and chocolate are soothing, but they relax the esophageal sphincter (Are you impressed I can spell that?) and can make heartburn worse. And then there’s spicy food and cheese. Essentially I can give up all the things I love to eat and drink or I can put up with heartburn. Now that I think of it, the heartburn wasn’t all that bad…
