Princess Charlotte

Like her great-grandmother Elizabeth, Charlotte was born a princess. Her mother and grandmother didn’t get to be called “your royal highness” until they married princes. Charlotte slept through her first press conference, but she’s already a fashion trend-setter. The British knitwear company that made the shawl she wore home from the hospital reports a dramatic surge in orders for matching wraps from all over the world. She’s fourth in line for the throne after her grandfather Charles, her father William and her almost-two-year-old brother George. Charlotte Elizabeth Diana is the first princess of Cambridge since 1833, when her great-grandmother’s great-grandmother held the title. It’s surprising that I know so much about a baby whose only real distinction is having been born into an interesting family. But when you consider how much attention the Kardashians, the Robertsons, the Osbournes, the Voights, the Cyrus’ and the Simmons get, maybe it’s not that surprising after all.
