Nathan Poulsen was loading his son into a shopping cart in
the Wal-mart parking lot in Odgen when he noticed a lady’s wallet had been left
behind. I’m sure a lot of people would have happily pocketed the money, binned
the empty wallet and gone merrily on their way. A lot of people would have dropped
the wallet off at customer service, assuming it would find its way home. Not Nathan.
At first he assumed the owner would be right back, so he waited 45 minutes in
the parking lot. When she didn’t appear, he opened the wallet to look for her
address or phone number. There were no numbers and the only address was in Boise
– more than 300 miles away. So Nathan looked up the owner on facebook,
sent her a message and returned her wallet. Some days doing the right thing
takes a lot more effort. But the world is a better place because of people who do.
