Nana's Choice

I read a post in a quilter’s blog the other day I had to share. Kathy Mathews in her page Quilting! Sewing! Creating! observed that quilting and parenting are very similar. She said, “I know one is expensive and lies on the bed all day and the other is a quilt, but hear me out.” With your first attempt, you’re worried you’ll mess up. If necessary your first quilt can become a pet bed. And your firstborn can take solace with said pet. Equipment for making quilts and tending babies are expensive and need constant upgrades. Quilting and raising children are messy ordeals. Blood, sweat and tears are frequently involved. Good books and good friends can get you through the worst of it. Patience is required for both endeavors and at times it’s hard to see any progress. In the end you may not win a blue ribbon, but you’ll deserve a pat on the back for sticking with it!
