Nebraska Windmills

I was rummaging through my stash of Civil War prints when I ran across a handful of half-square triangles and a bit of matching background fabric left over from the Temperance block I posted December 5, 2011. I entertained myself about half an hour finding different ways to place the triangle blocks before I settled on this one. The original pattern was the block-of-the-month at Quilts Etc. June, 2007. It called for five pinwheels in five different colors, but of course I had only purple and green. That first Nebraska Windmills block I made six years ago was in red, white and blue. I see it every day because it’s set in the quilt that covers my bed. I suppose that’s why this particular block pattern came to mind as I was rearranging scraps of fabric. Now if only I could remember why I was searching through the Civil War prints in the first place.
