A Thousand Pyramids

I feel like celebrating! You’re looking at the one thousandth page I’ve posted since I started this blog three years, nine months and six days ago. 1000 blocks (a few were whole quilt tops) that I planned, pieced together and photographed. 150,000 words – some about what I’ve been thinking or doing and some about nothing at all – which I shared along with them. A lot of them became quilts for friends and family. Many were given to wounded soldiers, hurricane survivors, and hospital volunteers. Some became single-block pot holders, and a few were turned into throw pillows. Hundreds are stacked in my sewing room closet, waiting to find a purpose. I’ve enough to make at least a dozen more sampler quilts. I’ll admit I put more time into the blocks than these notes; in 3 3/4 years, I could have written the great American novel. But I suspect the effort required would have sucked all the fun out of it.
