Log Cabin Star

I’ve been reading a lot lately about Houston’s new non-discrimination ordinance. The law, among other things, would allow men to use the ladies’ room. Presumably the reverse would also be sanctioned. I guess it was inevitable. We live in a world that recognizes not two genders, but dozens. It may be feasible for most businesses to provide separate accommodations for men and women, but not for scores of other gender choices. Allowing all people to use all commodes must have seemed like the only sane solution. Opponents of the “bathroom bill” are many, and they’re loud. But seriously, I don’t think they have much to worry about. I used to clean men's rooms for a living. I’d have to be pretty desperate to resort to relieving myself in a place like that. I suppose if a man really wants to use the ladies’ room, he could try. But he’d better be prepared to wait in line.
