Big Texan
Jenny Groesbeck and her 18-month-old daughter Lily were on
their way home to Springville from visiting Grandma’s house in Salem when
something happened that caused their car to run off a bridge and flip into the
Spanish Fork River. No one witnessed the accident, and once it was in the river, the car wasn't visible from the road. It was several hours
before a fisherman called to report an abandoned vehicle. By the time the Spanish Fork police arrived, the car had been upside-down in the
water for at least 14 hours. All four officers distinctly heard a woman's voice saying,
“Help me!” They called back, “We’re trying,” as they worked to upright the
vehicle. Once the car was right-side up, though, they found no one inside who
was capable of speech. Jenny had died in the crash and little Lily was unconscious. “We’re not sure where that voice came from,” said Officer Jared
Warner. “It wasn’t a child’s voice. There was some other help there.”
