Scrappy Little Shoo-Fly

Last week a friend surprised me with a photo of a clever sign post. It was like the one from the TV series M*A*S*H, except instead of Boston, Coney Island and San Francisco, it points the way to the Emerald City, Narnia and Mr. McGregor’s Garden. Other destinations are mentioned: Badger’s House and Toad Hall from Wind in the Willows, Diagon Alley and Hogwarts from the Harry Potter series, and The Shire from Tolkein’s The Hobbit. There are also four signs on the post that are pointed away from the camera. One might say, “The Secret Garden,” from the novel of the same name by Frances Hodgson Burnett. The others are a complete mystery. Peter Pan’s Neverland seems conspicuously absent, as does Alice’s Wonderland. Does the last sign say, “Camp Half-Blood” from the Rick Riordan series? Maybe it’s Ursula Le Guin’s Earthsea, Lloyd Alexander’s Prydain, or Cornelia Funke’s Inkworld. What would YOUR sign say?
