Bright Stars

When I start a new project, I stick the fabric scraps in a “bone bag” to keep them together in one place. That way, if I goof, I can usually rummage through the bag for a patch to fix things. When the project is done I like to challenge myself by designing something new – usually a wall hanging or a table topper – out of the bone bag scraps. I find it very amusing that this particular bone bag project is so much larger than the original quilt. My second grandson will move out of his crib and into a bottom bunk this Christmas. It only just occurred to me that he has no twin-sized quilt to move with him. His big brother’s very bright alphabet quilt will be on the top bunk, so I chose the bright scraps from this year’s state fair quilt to make a vibrant complement. The original quilt was 24x36”; the new one should be 63x85”.
