These blocks have been bugging me for weeks. I didn’t like
them, but I didn’t know WHY I didn’t like them. There was nothing wrong with
their color scheme, balance or execution. Finally this past weekend I figured
it out. The only thing I don’t like about them is their size. They were 12”
finished, but they each have less than 25 pieces. Most of the 12” blocks I’ve
been making for several months now have closer to twice that many. I guess it’s
just a matter of perspective. So I decided to take them both apart, downsize
the pieces and stitch them back together again. I turned them both into 9”
finished blocks. It only took an hour of my spare time and a little math. If
anyone had told me back in school that geometry and algebra could be this much
fun, I might have paid more attention.
