Over the weekend I stumbled upon Quiltinggallery.com, where
you can see a directory of literally thousands of quilters’ blogs. There are
over one hundred from Utah alone! While browsing there, I discovered a plan to
make and donate quilts to those who were hit hardest by hurricane Sandy. The
woman organizing this effort is looking for some quilters willing to make and
donate Wonky Log Cabin blocks and others willing to gather those blocks, stitch
them into finished quilts and send them to the distribution center in New York
City. It sounded like fun, so I signed up to make 20 12" blocks. I thought I’d have
enough skinny fabric pieces in my scrap bag to do that many. In no time at all
I’d finished 27 scrappy blocks, and I’ve barely made a dent in the scrap bag. These
blocks are so easy and fun to make, I might just produce another dozen or more!
