Not feeling the holiday spirit? Here’s how to fight the
Christmas blues:
Express gratitude. Put a notebook and pencil near your bed.
Each night jot down things you’re grateful for. Review your list each morning.
Write a thank you note to someone; then send it.
Prohibit negativity. Catch yourself thinking or expressing
negative thoughts. Substitute something positive. Spend time each day in front
of a mirror, reminding yourself of your own good qualities.
Volunteer. Give time to a library, homeless shelter,
hospital, or nursing home. When you focus on helping those less fortunate than
yourself (there’s ALWAYS someone less fortunate) your own problems diminish.
Add some holiday music. Play your favorite Christmas songs while
exercising, running errands or doing household chores. Sing along. Life is
always better with the right sound track.
Smile. It’s a gift you can give to everyone around you, and
it doesn’t cost a thing. You’ll be surprised how it improves your outlook.
