Hope of Hartford

Fred Rogers offered this advice about the scary, sad news we see almost every time we turn on a television: “When I was a boy and I would see scary things in the news, my mother would say to me, ‘Look for the helpers. You’ll always find people who are helping.’ To this day, especially in times of disaster, I remember my mother's words and I am always comforted by realizing that there are still so many helpers – so many caring people in this world.”  Mr. Rogers passed away ten years ago this winter. But his advice is as helpful today as it was then. If you concentrate on why bad things happen, you can’t help but be confused, discouraged and even frightened.  But if you focus on the people who are offering their time, their means and their talents to help others when they need it most, you’ll get a glimpse of how heaven must be. And you’ll want to join them.
