I just love quilter makers. They are some of the nicest,
most generous people I’ve ever met. Just like everyone else, they read in the
news about victims of terrorist attacks, hurricanes, cancer, war, tornados and
other horrible things. But then they band together to create something soft, warm,
beautiful and comforting to send to them. The other day I was wandering around
the Internet (no one could honestly call what I do surfing) and stumbled on Heather
Spence’s web page. Heather is a long-arm quilter; her page is full of lovely pictures
of her work. But what caught my attention were the photos you can see at http://www.heatherspencedesigns.com/2013/08/american-hero-quilt-block-challenge/
. She and others like her are making quilts for injured soldiers. They’re
asking for donated blocks like the one above to make quilts like the one below.
The blocks are so easy to do I whipped up a baker's dozen from my scrap bag in just a few hours.
