Starlight Mint

Have you ever passed up a restaurant – the very one your heart was set on – because you’d have to wait too long to get a table? Afterwards, were you less than satisfied with your meal at the eatery you picked instead? You’re not alone, according to The Scientific American. This week they reported the results of an elaborate study involving good restaurants, not-so-good restaurants, wait times and lab rats. They say the study proves rats, like people, are usually unhappy with the food they get when they’re unwilling to wait for the food they wanted. They claim the rats bolted the second-rate food (a sure sign they’re not enjoying it) and glanced back at their first choices with longing expressions. It could be a sign that rats suffer buyer’s remorse. Or it might mean some scientists need to get out of the lab more often.
