Big Storm

Mark Hill of Camden Point Missouri knows how important emergency responders are. On two separate occasions his father’s life was saved by volunteer firefighters. So when Mark and his wife Cindy won nearly $300 million in the Powerball lottery in 2012, they chose to use some of the money to pay it forward. Last month the Hill family donated a brand-new, state-of-the-art fire station to their community. The new building is energy efficient, has room to house ambulances and fire trucks, and includes a training facility. It also has living quarters so the station can be manned 24-7.  Mark and Cindy didn’t do it for the attention. Mark told reporters if they could have built the fire station anonymously, “That’s exactly what we would have done.” The Hills are also building a new ball field for Camden Point, as well as a sewage treatment plant so their neighbors can dispense with personal septic tanks.
