I used little scraps that were lying around to make this
block, which was the 365 Quilt Block Challenge for August 26. If I’d thought
about it, I would have skipped the red calico and blue floral, and instead dug
out some emerald green to go with the white; the two colors that stand for the
4-H. 4-H is a global network of youth organizations whose mission is to engage
youth and to help them reach their fullest potential. There are 4-H
organizations in 50 different countries. In the United States 4-H is administered
by the National Institute of Food and Agriculture of the United States
Department of Agriculture. At county and state fairs you can see displays of 4-H
kids’ work in livestock, fruits and vegetables, food preservation, baking, photography,
scrapbooking and needlecraft. But the real results are the young men and women
themselves.
