This coming Monday is Be Late for Something Day, which I’m
certain will come as good news to everyone who has trouble being on time. It
sounds like an easy holiday to celebrate. I feel it important to point out,
though, that Monday is not Be Late for Everything Day. Nor is it appropriate to
be late for something every day. So it might be prudent to choose the one thing
you’ll be late for and get it over with. Another thing you’ll want to remember
is there are two kinds of tardiness. The first one hurts no one (except
possibly yourself). The second one makes other people wait for you. If the “something”
you’re planning to be late for is likely to cause inconvenience for others, you
may want to reconsider. See? It’s not as simple a holiday as it seemed. Why not
just celebrate Cheese Pizza Day instead?
