Paul Robertson is a truck driver from St. Paul, Minnesota. His
best friend, Percy, keeps him company on long drives. A few weeks ago Paul contracted
food poisoning at a truck stop in Ohio. He left his truck idling so the A/C
would work while he slept it off. An hour later he awoke to find the cab window
had been rolled down and Percy (a yellow tabby) was gone. Paul searched as long
as he could, but he had appointments to keep. Devastated, he drove 200 miles
through rain, snow and mud to make his first delivery, and another 200 miles
for the second in Shoals, Indiana. Then who pops out from under the truck? You
guessed it. “I scooped him up,” Paul reports, “He was cuddling and purring and happy
as can be. He reeks like an old tire but I haven't the heart to bathe him right
now. Let the poor guy rest.”
