Do you have a summer bucket list? Maybe you should. Mine
involves mostly reading. I’ve been so busy this spring, the bookmarks in the novels I’ve started have scarcely moved for weeks. I want to finish Rick
Riordan’s "The Mark of Athena," Jennifer Chiaverini’s "Mrs. Lincoln’s Dressmaker,"
Joanne Fluke’s "Red Velvet Cupcake Murder" and Jerry Borrowman’s "Attack the
Lusitania!" I’d really like to reread Orson Scott Card’s "Ender’s Game" before the
movie comes out. I’ve heard good things about "Fairy Godmothers, Inc." by
Jennifer Wardell, "Blue Moon" by Teri Harman, and "Frozen in Time" by Mitchell
Zuckoff. I'm told Michael Crichton’s last manuscript, "Micro" was
finished by Richard Preston. I’ve always believed Crichton should have hired
someone else to finish his novels. Diane Mott Davidson has a new book "The Whole
Enchilada" set to arrive August 27. So I’ll have something fun to read when
summer’s over.
