Auerbach

One of my generous quilting friends gave me a panel several years ago; white cotton fabric with four quotes about music printed in black with a pretty calligraphic font. I hung onto it for some time, not sure what to do with it. I dug through my scrap bag and for fabric to frame them, turning the quotes into 12” Sawtooth Album blocks. For a while I toyed with the idea of joining them into a single wall hanging, but eventually I decided they were more useful on their own. I’ll display them one at a time in my music studio, changing them with the seasons. This first one is a quote by German-Jewish poet Berthold Auerbach, who also said, “The little dissatisfaction which every artist feels at the completion of a work forms the germ of a new work.” Though, of course, he probably said it in German.
