The Disney Magic is an 84,000 ton, 984-foot long cruise ship
that was built in 1998. It was an almost identical twin to its sister ship, the
Disney Wonder. During the summer of 2013, the Magic underwent extensive
refurbishment in Barcelona, Spain. The ship's cabins, lounges, restaurants and
spa were completely updated. New features were added, including "Marvel's
Avengers Academy", a play area based on Marvel's Avengers characters. Also
new are the AquaDunk and the AquaLab, a pool and waterslide that will replace
the ship's Mickey Pool. There are currently four ships in the Disney Cruise
Line: The Magic, the Wonder, the Fantasy and the Dream. They all feature live
Broadway-style shows, movie theaters, and fireworks displays. All the Disney
cruise ships are decorated (right down to their lifeboats) in Mickey Mouse
colors, and they all have ship’s whistles that play “When You Wish Upon a Star.”
