When choosing an epitaph for his headstone, crooner Frank
Sinatra chose the title of one of his favorite tunes: “The Best is Yet to Come.”
Comic actor Leslie Nielsen’s monument reads, “Let ‘er rip.” The vaudevillian who
portrayed Uncle Albert in Disney’s Mary Poppins wrote this on his own memorial:
“Dear God, Thanks. – Ed Wynn.” At the resting place of Mel Blanc, the voice of
Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck and hundreds of other cartoon characters, are the words,
“That’s All, Folks.” Stand-up comic Rodney
Dangerfield couldn’t resist a last laugh. His stone says, “There Goes the
Neighborhood.” Merv Griffin, the host of television talk shows and game shows,
left us this message on his headstone: “I will not be right back after these
messages.” Actor Jack Lemmon’s memorial reads a bit like the beginning of a
movie credit: “Jack Lemmon in.”
