The 12-week weight loss competition I mentioned here February
20, 21 and 22 is over. I didn’t win, but I didn’t expect to. I kept most of my
promises: to skip two meals a month, to avoid eating between dinner and
breakfast, to count calories, to get regular exercise and to limit salt. There
were areas where I could have done better. I didn’t always drink as much water
as I’d intended. We had several late-night play rehearsals, so I didn’t always
get as much sleep as I’d like. I had more sweets than is probably good for me,
and I ate out. I ate out a LOT. I have lost weight; not so much that other
people have started noticing, but I can see a difference. More importantly, I
can FEEL a difference. All told, I lost 5.5% of myself in three months. It’s a
very gradual loss, but one I think I can sustain.
