When Quilts Etc. showed us this block in this April's block-of-the-month class, they named it Wind Strings after the strings that
secure a cowboy's hat on windy days. At this same class in July 2007, they
called an identical block Sawtooth after the mountain range in Idaho. It has many other names, but I've forgotten them all. If I had a book of quilt blocks
organized by the shape of the design (this one would be categorized under
"Nine-Patch Blocks") I could write them all down. In 2008
I checked a book like that out of the Salt Lake City Library. I was trying to
finish a sampler quilt before leaving for England, and that book proved very
inspirational. I’d love to buy that book at Amazon or Barnes & Noble, or
even to check it out of the library again. And I would, if only I could
remember its name.
