Nine French Chains

My daughter discovered YouTube a few years back. Until some months ago she used it to enjoy home videos of Disney park rides, bits of the Nutcracker Ballet, different versions of A Christmas Carol, Scooby Doo cartoons, and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Lately, though, all she ever watches is The Smurfs. Their  theme song is annoying enough to drive you straight up a wall. But most of the background music is made up of classic themes; sort of a Music Appreciation 101 list of top hits. Here’s what I’ve caught so far: Bach’s Brandenburg Concerto #2, Beethoven’s Moonlight Sonata, Berlioz’ Symphonie Fanastique, Borodin’s Polovetsian Dances, Debussy’s Prelude to the Afternoon of a Faun, Dukas’ Sorcerer’s Apprentice, Elgar’s Pomp and Circumstance, Grieg’s In the Hall of the Mountain King, several Liszt piano concerti, Spring Song by Mendelssohn, and a few arias from Mozart’s The Magic Flute. I suppose she could find worse things to listen to.
