Pumpkin Blossom Quilt

I’m funny about taking directions. When I use a recipe the first time, I try to follow it to the letter. But the whole time I’m thinking, “This will be delicious next time with almond extract instead of vanilla.” When I make a quilt block I'm always asking, “Is there another way to do this?” I frequently change a quilt pattern because I see a different way to do it: more interesting, more economical, or just more “me.” I bought the fabric for this quilt in a kit meant to make a 14”x14” table topper. I wasn’t in love with the design, but adored the prints it used. It didn’t take long to see more than half the fabric in the kit would be wasted by following the directions, so I tossed them.
